Recognized leader in sustainability from the start of her career

During the past decade, Millar has established herself as a leader in sustainability, approaching it from both the architect and tenant perspectives. She earned a bachelor's degree and a master's at George Washington University, where she was a Presidential Arts Scholar. In her first job she became the engineering firm's first designer to earn LEED credentials. Soon after, Millar was awarded a national developing leader award from the National Association of Industrial Office Parks and launched a national sustainability practice as managing director at a real estate firm. Millar broke out on her own in 2011 to form Millar + Associates. The firm was profitable in its first year and doubled revenue in its second, also doubling its staff.

Ehsan Minaie
Making his mark both in the field and within academic circles

Engaged in both professional and academic pursuits, Minaie has more than 12 years in structural engineering. He currently manages research, development and implementation of an integrated asset management system for an owner and operator of seven major bridges, including several moveable structures in the Delaware Valley. Minaie also leads a peer review team on a robotics-assisted bridge inspection tool being developed by Rutgers University for the Federal Highway Administration and is a research consultant for Drexel University's Intelligent Infrastructure Alliance, where he mentors teams on industry-sponsored transportation technology research. He also leads bridge research in Pennsylvania for the American Society of Civil Engineers.

 

MIVOSKI HAGERTY

Natalie Miovski Hagerty
Promotes improved health care environments for patients

Miovski Hagerty focused her career on health care architecture after her father suffered a heart attack. Since then, she has worked to improve health care delivery environments and coined industry terms such as "patient-centered, staff-friendly environments." Miovski Hagerty has done projects for the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa., and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, among others. She now is planning a $110-million expansion for St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and projects for the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. She developed the EwingCole Healthcare Center of Excellence, which mentors architects and engineers in the firm's practice. Miovski Hagerty is among Healthcare Design magazine's 10 most influential U.S. designers.

 

POFFENBERGER

Adam Poffenberger
Gaining field experience since interning in college

Since his time as an intern while attending the University of Virginia's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Poffenberger has developed an extensive field background in in-situ and ex-situ soil remediation and experience in groundwater treatment and environmental construction. Significant regional projects include a water pollution control plant and park in Arlington County, Va., and an outdoor firing range for the city of Richmond. In his off time, Poffenberger volunteers at business fundraising events and at the Central Virginia Food Bank. He also has helped coach varsity lacrosse and is a regular supporter of the Virginia Blood Services.
